Fair play tour - cycling for school building projects

22.07.2022

Showing team spirit together, helping each other and getting involved for others - these are the goals that the Fairplay Tour set itself again this year. Every year since 1999, she has motivated several hundred people to take part in cycling. Among this year's 100-strong youth group was the team from IGS Hermeskeil with 2 students and 10 students and 4 supervisors. KOMAGE supported the fair play tour with a €500 check, which was presented to the team on the IGS school grounds. The proceeds from the fair play tour go to school construction projects in Rwanda, Burundi and other countries. The first stage led the cyclists from Bitburg-Erdorf and Kyllburg to Gerolstein, covering 80 kilometers and 1170 meters in altitude. On the second day, the route led via Gerolstein, Kronenburg and Bütgenbach - more than 60 km and almost 600 meters in altitude. Other stages of the bike marathon were Bitburg, Rosport, Perl, Merzig and Nunkirchen, as well as Birkenfeld. The last forces had to be mobilized for the target stage from Birkenfeld via Hermeskeil to Bekond. We hope all athletes have survived the hardships well and will be there again next year.
