KOMAGE Salt

  Salt - indispensable for humans
Salt has always been one of the most elementary things in life. The human body needs it due to the fact that it loses approximately 7 kg salt yearly. Therefore, it is no wonder that the "white gold" has been a sought after commodity for thousands of years. Today, salt is applied in pharmaceuticals and other chemical products like detergents, disinfectants, soaps, dyes, solvents etc. and is also still used to preserve food. Industrial salt is one of the most important product of the chemical industry. Salt, with the help of chlor-alkali electrolysis, is also utilised for the preparation of soda lye and for the soda production salt.

Various industrial branches require, that the saline end products are compressed in a dosed and geometrical shape. Specially suited for this procedure are the press systems from KOMAGE.

KOMAGE - Presses: For saline products - tasteful solutions
For the broad spectrum of the most varying products made of industrial salts, KOMAGE has positioned itself on the market with multiple press-technical solutions. These combine the complexity factor of the product and the required automatisation degree. KOMAGE has developed intelligent systems against the corrosive aspect of salt that have unfavourable effects in the engineering industry.

The constant industrial challenges demand from KOMAGE a flexible problem solution which is especially aimed towards an economical and high-quality production.

Suppliers of the automotive industry:
Process reliability and cost minimization Due to the extremely high melting point of salt is this product very suitable for the application in the casting mould process. For a supplier of the automotive industry, who was faced with the challenge of creating cavity formations in a form body, a salt core had to be developed which was to dissolve in water after the casting mould was manufactured. The task for KOMAGE consisted of developing a press-technical process that allows the salt to be shaped in a defined form geometry. The pressed salt core was also suppose to have a high firmness and receive a rigid structure for the automatic handling during the process.

In a short period of time, we established in our in-house technology center a laboratory set-up for these salt core production. The first lab results were immediately tested in the casting process and turned out to be convincing. Meanwhile, this customer uses exclusively KOMAGE presses for this application in his subsidiary plants world-wide.
