	Carbon - Advantages for new markets This is what an ideal material looks like: chemically resistant, thermally stable, conductive and lightweight. Carbon has all these advantages which make it attractive for a variety of industrial applications. It is used more and more in the steel-, aluminium-, and automotive industry, for example. Increasingly, carbon is also discovered as promising replacement for heavy materials such as metal. As supplier of press systems for carbon products, KOMAGE stands in the front line. We are market leaders in manufacuring presses for carbon brushes used in electro-motors. As pacemaker for technically advanced and economically rational procedures of the shaping processes we are committed, above the usual day-by-day business, with F+E projects in cooperation with colleges and membership in the taskforce 'carbon' (DKG German Ceramic Association e.V.) and were organisers of the technical meeting of this organisation in 2003.


	KOMAGE-Presses: Always one step ahead We don’t stop at the achievements reached. Customers appreciate our competitiveness. They challenge us with ever increasing requirements. This was already so in 1960, when we introduced the first machine, world-wide, for carbon brushes which automatically presses-in and cuts off the cable in one press cycle. An innovation that asserted itself very quickly as standard on the market. We are considered pioneers in this field. With presses for multi-layer components, we are setting new standards for carbon applications, both in technology and economic efficiency. Based on the mechanical type, our machines ensure an economical production of large scale manufacture. Furthermore, they fulfil high-level customer requests in regards to shape-geometry and quality control. A combination which is one step ahead of the usual standard on the market. Customer of the Japanese Electronic-Industry: High expectations – new efficiency standard Actually, everything was perfectly obvious. The economical and technological advantages pointed definitely toward the investment in a mechanical press. But the customer, manufacturer of carbon brushes, expected more than a profitable mass production from the new machine: namely, multi-layer pressing of carbon products with precise geometry and automatic quality control, combined with high stroke rates. In search for a convincing concept, they finally contacted KOMAGE. And indeed, on the basis of a mechanical press, their high expectations were met. Concept, prototype and conversion of the mechanical multi-layer press were absolutely convincing. Operating efficiency, economical efficiency and flexibility of a machine – best conditions for a profitable production!
